Jonathan R. Hakim, President & CEO
Jonathan brings an extensive background in finance, business, and technology to Azima. He co-founded wireless bandwidth company A2Q and has advised many wireless and telecom start-ups. His previous positions include Director of the International Finance Corporation, as well as Managing Director at Lehman Brothers, where he was responsible for arranging financings for companies in Europe, the United States, and Latin America. Prior to that, he was Banking Editor of The Economist, interviewing many notable figures in banking and finance. He holds a Master's Degree from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor's Degree from Oxford University.
Burt Hurlock, Chief Financial Officer
Burt is acting Chief Financial Officer and also a Board member of Azima. In addition to overseeing day-to-day financial and operating activities, he is responsible for various strategic growth initiatives including mergers and acquisitions. Burt has spent 15 years as an entrepreneur and investor. He has founded, advised, built, operated, and/or sold almost a dozen venture-backed operating companies, and completed more than 40 acquisitions. Burt holds a Bachelor's Degree from Princeton University and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
Nelson L. Baxter, P.E., Vice President of Diagnostic Services
Nelson is one of the world's leading industrial vibration analysts. His 30-year career spans many industries including nuclear, steel, paper, and automotive. A professional engineer, he is a Level IV vibration analyst, which is the highest certification possible. In addition, Nelson is a board member of the Vibration Institute of America, and he teaches the organization's Level IV Certification Program. Nelson holds a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University.
Ken Piety, Vice President of Technology
Ken is a pioneer in vibration analysis and other condition assessment technologies, and was a co-founder of Computational Systems Inc. Also known in the industry as CSI, the company was acquired by the Fortune 500 giant Emerson Electric Company for $165 million. Ken was a key contributor at CSI for nearly 20 years, holding a number of senior-level positions in marketing and engineering. He holds more than 30 patents related to predictive and proactive maintenance technologies. In addition to CSI, Ken's skills have been put to work for General Electric, Technology for Energy Corporation, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and other leading organizations. Ken holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
Carl Eyman, Vice President of Azima Services South, LLC
Prior to joining Azima, Carl founded Measurements, LLC, a New Orleans-based analysis company with a focus on the oil and gas industries. He served as president of Measurement, LLC for nearly 30 years. Carl is Level III certified in vibration analysis by the Vibration Institute of America, and is also a Certified Lubrication Specialist through the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE). He has published research in the topic of Gamma Ray Spectroscopy, and has 25 years' experience developing predictive maintenance programs for oil and gas production, petrochemical, and related process industries. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of New Orleans.
Don Rainey, Director
Don has extensive experience as a maintenance engineer and maintenance manager in the petrochemical, pulp and paper, and food industries. His career has centered around condition monitoring, and he has served at the corporate level managing such programs for entities such as Kimberly Clark Corporation, W. R. Grace and Company (Ag Chem Division), and DuPont. Don established and managed the QualiTest® Division of Hi-Speed Industrial Company, one the largest condition monitoring consultancies in the southeastern United States. He holds Level II certifications in machinery vibration analysis from the Vibration Institute of America, and Level III certifications in Quantitative Infrared Thermography. Don holds a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla.
Steve Short, Director, Azima Services South
Steve Short manages the reciprocating engine/compressor analysis and B-Probe inspection group. He has extensive experience in the machinist and analysis areas for natural gas engines and compressors, with a particular focus on the oil and gas industry, plus the chemical and refining industry. In 1990, he co-founded Emspec, a provider of analysis, products, and consulting services to the compression industry. His work includes projects for the marine industry and a number of Fortune 500 industrial clients. Steve has received a breadth of reciprocating equipment analysis training and diplomas from PMC Beta; Liberty Technologies (Dynalco Controls); Anderson Consulting, Training and Testing (ACTT); and MPR Associates (Diesel Engine Analysis).
